Got Talent? We Want to See It!

The Diversity Committee invites you to compete in the “BSA’s Got Talent” competition. We are seeking videos, two to three minutes in length, of you performing a special talent. Select videos will be shared at the October 21 diversity event at the national office conference center. The deadline for submitting your video on DVD is October 4. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to gottalent@scouting.org.

Scouting’s Journey to Excellence Webinar Schedule Released

The BSA’s new council recognition program, called “Scouting’s Journey to Excellence,” is designed to encourage and reward success and measure the performance of units, districts, and councils. 2010 Shooting Sports Grant Deadline Approaching

For the fourth consecutive year, the National Shooting Sports Foundation is sponsoring a special grant program for local councils. The maximum award is $10,000. Completed applications are due October 31. For more information, a PDF application is online.

CSM Enhancements Coming in October

Council Strategic Management (CSM) Services provides local councils with the ability to automate the strategic planning and management process by giving them access to industry standards and best practices. In October, new Plan Coach and Plan Administrator training will be launched as well as new enhancements to the Business Report Card and the CSM website. Boy Scouts to be Featured on ‘Jeopardy!’

The BSA once again will be featured as a category on an upcoming episode of “Jeopardy!” The episode, which will include a category of five questions titled “Boy Scout Activities,” will air nationwide on September 28. Three of the questions will offer video clues that were shot on location at the Golden Empire Council‘s Camp Winton, located outside Sacramento, Calif. Alumni Alive! Quarterly E-newsletter Launched

The first issue of our BSA alumni newsletter, Alumni Alive!, has been published. Scouting alumni who have registered with the BSA will receive a newsletter link four times a year. Stories in the first issue include coverage of The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, new Scouting awards, Scouting magazine discounts, and other news of interest to alumni. Track Philmont Construction Projects Online!

Now that the busy summer season has wound down, there are a number of exciting construction projects ramping up at Philmont Scout Ranch. In fact, projects continuously start and finish during the year. To help showcase the progress of active and completed projects throughout the ranch, a new Philmont Construction Projects page has been added to the redesigned Philmont website, featuring photographs and descriptions.
